I admit it–I’ve become an iPod/iPad/iPhone junkie. I love the functionality and ease of use iTunes apps provide my every day life. Recently I’ve been scouring the app store looking at some of the new and recommended apps and have recently found some I wonder how I ever lived without. That said, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite apps that I’ve come to use nearly every day. Who knows…maybe you’ll find a new one that you’ll really enjoy too!
1. Pinterest—Love, love, love their recent update. Prior to August 25th, I was experimenting with several different Pinterest apps but with their new update, repinning and exploring is so much easier I’m sold. If you are Pinterest addict, this is a must. Now if they’ll just make it so I can buffer and edit a pin I’ll be set. Cost: FREE
2. Mr. Reader—How often do you find an app review with over 50 reviews and all are a consistent 5 star rating? Probably never. Well that the was the same with me until I discovered Mr. Reader, a very sophisticated RSS reader that has totally changed my life. From this reader I can organize my feed subscriptions, star posts, tag posts, search posts, buffer posts, G+ posts, add posts to Evernote and so much more. In addition, I can change between different formats so I am guaranteed to be able to read the entire post of ALL feeds. Yes, this app cost me a few dollars but it already has been totally worth it. There is no other RSS app that comes even close. Cost: $3.99
3. Pandora–Pandora is what my husband and I term as free satellite radio. We have it on every iPhone, iPad, and iPod in the house. Pandora is basically a customized radio station made just for you. You can choose from many radio channels based on an artist, song, or composer that you like. Some of our favorite channels: Cedarmont Kids, Cedarmont Worship, Praise and Worship Radio, and Children’s Indie Radio. Cost: FREE
4. Evernote—I’ve shared before how I use Evernote to
organize my goals as well as
my recipes. Basically, my favorite thing about this app is the fact that it automatically syncs everything I input between all my devices…computer, iPad, iPod, iPhone…you name it. If you are looking for a list making or recipe storing app, this is definitely an app worth considering. Cost: FREE
5. Bible.is—Most people have heard of YouVersion or GloBible (both great apps by the way), but not Bible.is. So what is so special about Bible.is that it can’t be compared to the other Bible apps out there? For one, it’s audio version is one of a kind as it is dramatized! It’s fantastic. Secondly, it incorporates the Jesus Film project such that you can read or listen to a passage and then watch the Jesus film segment that corresponds with the passage. Talk about bringing the Word to life. Third, its available in 600+languages (YouVersion only has about 200). Seriously, check out this app. Cost: FREE
6. Buffer—As a social blogger this is my go-to app. I love using
Buffer both online and via the app version. You can use it to schedule your tweets automatically throughout the day and, with the help of
Tweriod (also free)
Buffer will automatically schedule your tweets so that they go out at the time most of your followers are also Tweeting creating more interaction. You ever wonder how I tweet at all hours of the day? Well now you know my little secret. 😉 Cost: FREE
7. Facebook Pages Manager—If you have one or more Facebook business pages (not a personal page or group) then this is definitely the best app on the market for accessing your page information. You can easily switch between pages, receive push notifications, view page statistics and more. Now I don’t have to remember to go check my Facebook Pages all the time to see if there is something new. This app lets me know right away. Cost: FREE
8. Gas Buddy—Ever want to know the cheapest place around to get gas? Well now you can with this handy little app. Just today I knew that by driving one extra mile I would save $.15 per gallon. Thanks to this app, that extra mile drive was totally worth it. Cost: FREE
9. Return Me!—If you were to loose your phone, would someone know who the phone belonged to or how to reach you? This app, though very simple in nature, creates an information page you can place as your lock screen image so that if someone were to find your phone they would know how to contact you to return it without unlocking it. Although I hope it never has to truly be used I feel much safer knowing its there. Cost: FREE
10. App Shopper—Want to know if an app is on sale? Want to receive an email when an app is available for free? I love this app because I can create my wish list and it keeps tabs on the price for me. When it becomes available for free, I get an email, or if the price is lowered I get a notification. It’s great for comparing star ratings and seeing how cheap the app has sold for in the past. May you never pay too much for an app again. Cost: FREE
Note: I was NOT compensated in any way for these reviews. These are seriously just apps that I like and thought maybe you might too. Have fun checking them out!
So tell us, what’s your favorite app?
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
