For those of you who have followed our homeschooling journey for some time you know how much we use scripture songs to memorize our weekly Bible verses. As a music teacher, I’ve seen the effectiveness of scripture memory and other memory work skyrocket with the addition of words being put to music. You may forget a poem you’ve once memorized but if you learn it in a song, it will not soon be forgotten. In fact, I still remember several Bible verses from children’s music CDs I used to listen to as a kid. It’s that powerful.
Movie-like Music
All that to say I am constantly looking for good scripture songs which is why I am so excited to share the Hidden in My Heart Scripture Lullabies CDs with you today. They are seriously some of the most beautiful songs put to scripture that I’ve ever heard–definitely not the typical lullaby-childish-sounding CDs you often see in stores. The instrumentation is gorgeous (think Braveheart-like) and the vocal male-female duo is solid (reminding me a lot of one of my favorite Christian duos–Selah). I initially got these Lullaby CDs for Teacup because I thought it would be a great way to instill some scripture in her even as she lay down to sleep. However, I’m quickly learning that these CDs are not just for babies, they are great for mommies too. There has been more than a few long nights lately that I have happily chosen to rock Teacup to sleep just so I could sit, listen, and let the music wash over me as worship.
Peaceful Encouragement
The two CDs we have been listening to are Hidden in My Heart, Vol. 1 and Hidden in My Heart, Vol. 2 and we love them both. Teacup has even learned how to start her CD player on her own just so she can listen to the songs whenever she lays down for nap, night or whenever. Volume 3 is set to come out soon so you can be sure I’ll be looking to buy it as soon as it does. It will also be a delight to know that when I do make my next Lullaby Scriptures purchase that the proceeds from 1 out of every 10 Hidden in My Heart CDs will be donated to Pregnancy Resource Centers around the country. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving! I love it.

Children who were exposed to 10 minutes of a lullaby reduced their heart rate, on average, from 134.1 to 128.7.
Isn’t that interesting? So check it out. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts and minds and your children’s hearts and minds as you worship with these scripture lullabies.
