Cardboard Box Makeover

Just before Christmas our washer timer quit and our dryer decided to shoot out sparks.  While it usually happens that one appliance goes out before the other, ours just happened to die within the same week.  So, ready or not, we needed to purchase a new washer and dryer.  A couple of weeks later…we now have a new washer and dryer that I’m so thankful for and two huge boxes which has become a source of pure fun for Peanut.  Okay, so I am totally not the most creative when it comes to crafting but I thought we’d give it a go at creating some fun play places for Peanut.  Only afterwards did I see a Pinterest link to 17 cardboard box craft ideas.  Why oh why did I not have that beforehand?  It would have been so helpful.

Box number 1 we turned into…
…a castle.  I used some ribbon leftover from another craft project to create a draw bridge and a handle.  Also cut out a window on the side, although I realize now that the castle window should have probably been pointed at the top instead square like a house window.  Aw well.
Of course, Peanut had to add the finishing touches by adding a blanket, her pillow pets and coloring it with her markers.
Box number 2 we turned into a house complete with shutters and a door…
….which is now filled with balloons from our Christmas festivities.  What fun!

So what would you do if you had two large appliance boxes?  Got any creative ideas you’d like to share?

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.  Matthew 7:20
