This post has been a long time in coming such that I am SOOOOO excited to finally be able to share it with you. A few years ago when my husband and I moved into our house we knew there was one room we definitely wanted to redo–the bathroom. To begin with, it looked like this…

No it wasn’t bad, per say, but the beige had a yellow color that left much to be desired. Pair that with the fact that our wedding towels of blue and white didn’t really go and…well…this bathroom looked a little boyish to say the least. In addition, I knew that with the addition of two girls in our life, this bathroom needed some glorifying.
To begin, I’ve always been very fond of the brown and blue bathroom schemes so I searched for a shower curtain that would incorporate blues, browns, and whites as well as a few other feminine colors. No such luck. That’s when I decided to make my own shower curtain instead. With no pattern to follow, I let my creative juices take over. I found some material I liked, measured and sewed it to length, added button holes for the rings at the top, and finished it off with some shiny ribbon to cover the seams. In the end I had just enough material to create a matching valance too.

While most blue and brown bathrooms have blue walls and brown towels, we decided to reverse the color scheme for brown walls and blue towels. While brown can make a space very enclosing in a small space, since we have so much white in the room already, it just seemed to make everything else pop.
