At at Glance

At the beginning of each week there is a At a Glance page and a Parent Checklist to aid preparations for the upcoming week.  The At a Glance page includes the letter, color or shape, number, Bible verse and poem of the week.  Review this page each day with your child as you go through the week. Research shows that a child who has memorized 8 or more nursery rhymes by the age of 4, will most likely be the best at reading and spelling in their class by the age of 8.   Thus, memory of both the Bible verses and nursery rhymes are encouraged.  The first letter of each Bible verse corresponds with the letter of the week as well as the character trait discussed during the daily devotionals for easy recall.  You can also find a summary of each week’s goals in Scope and Sequence as well as a complete list of the alphabetical Bible verses at the end of the book.

Bonus Content

A Parent Checklist can also be found at the beginning of each week and includes helps such as read aloud suggestions, a list of extra items needed, snack suggestions, song suggestions, and field trip suggestions based on the week’s focus.  Extension activities are written to the parent at the bottom of each worksheet page and provide several hands on ways to reinforce the concepts being taught as well as develop fine and gross motor skills.  While these extension activities are encouraged to provide a complete preschool education, please feel free to modify the curriculum to best fit your child’s your child’s development and schedule.

What I Love

What I love most about this curriculum is that it is open and go.  No more printing printables or cutting out manipulatives.  Once you have prepared the few supplies you need for the year (play dough, crayons, do-a-dot markers, scissors, glue), you can just open the printed book and get started!

I also love that this curriculum covers more than just the academics of preschool.  It also includes activities that develop fine and gross motor skills, appreciation for the arts, and character development.  By the end of the curriculum, your child will not only know the concepts typically taught in preschool or pre-K, they will be well ahead of most beginning Kindergarten students.
