6 Things Every Homeschool Space Needs
Are you looking for inspiration to re-do or make-do your homeschool space? Although we are very blessed to have a space that we were able to designate as a school room, you don’t need a room to homeschool…just a space…even if it’s a BIG box! That said, here are 6 things to keep in mind as you set up your homeschool space. Every homeschool space needs:
- A place to play. Floor space in the living room, some grass in the backyard, or a neighborhood park–they all work. As long as they have a space children can do wonders with their imagination.
- A place to read. Think bean bag chairs, couches, carpet squares, or even a small tent! Where can they go and just read?
- A place to write. The kitchen table, a toddler table, a desk, a lapdesk…any of those work.
- A place to store school supplies. A cabinet in the kitchen, a shelf in an armoire, a bookshelf, or under the bed. If you can find a space, then dollar store storage bins can do the rest.
- A place to store school work. We like using notebooks but others store their school work in file boxes or file cabinets. Use what you have.
- A place to display artwork. Kids want to know that what they do is important so provide a space someplace in your house that they can display their best work…the refrigerator or freezer front, a cork board, a picture frame, or even a string hung across the wall with clothes pins.
