Today I’m excited to introduce to you are newest cast member here on Cornerstone Confessions–our new dog Snicker! If you recall from my annual goals that I shared way back in December, we have been planning on getting a dog for some time but promised the girls that we had to wait until after the fence was finished and after vacation and so, this month ended up being the month.
We found Snickers as a local adoption agency and it was love at first site. There were also some puppies available for adoption but Peanut would have none of that–“I want Snickers,” she said. So we took him home. He is about 19 months and has been nothing but precious. As you can tell, the girls have already bonded with him.
A little side story that I find particularly sweet about Snicker is he is a Boglen (aka 1/2 Boston Terrier, 1/2 Beagle). Why this is so special is because for months now (ever since reading Mapping Penny’s World while doing the Encompass Preschool Curriculum), Peanut has prayed every night “Lord, please give me a Boston Terrier.” So sweet, but so sincere. The result–a dog that is 1/2 Boston Terrier. All that to say, never underestimate the power of a child’s prayer or the power of a good book.
By the way, Boglen’s are known for being fantastic dogs for kids so if you are on the lookout for a dog, I highly recommend checking them out. We found the website, Designer Mixes, to be helpful during our research if you would like to know more about Boglen Terriers. As for us, I imagine you’ll be seeing a lot more of Snicker so now you’ll be in the know!
And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Matthew 15:26-27
