A few years ago I read the book The Baglady’s Guide to Elegant Living by Dina Dove. From that book I learned a lot about what it means to be thankful ev-er-y day. Last Sunday at church the subject of thankfulness again rose to the forefront of my mind via our Sunday School class’ discussion. The following question was posed: “What if you only had today the things you thanked God for yesterday?” Makes you think doesn’t it? I mean how thankful are we really in this world of materialism where things are given to us hand and foot just because we are Americans. Probably not enough.
You know the saying “through the mouths of babes….” Well, my daughter Peanut has been teaching me a lot lately in regards to thankfulness. Her prayers have recently grown to a steady run-on sentence of thankfulness to God. In fact, over the last month or so I’ve been so amazed at the depth of her prayers that I began to keep a list of all the things she told God she was thankful for. Her list might astound you, especially coming from a three year old; I know it humbles me. All that to say, it goes to show, no object of thankfulness is too little. God gladly receives them all.
