In an effort to eat healthier, I’ve decided I’m going to try eating more seasonally. Did you know that most produce in our grocery stores, although “fresh” is actually less nutrient packed than most of their frozen counterparts? And, did you know that produce can travel up to 1500 miles before it ever gets to your plate, IF it is not from your local farmer’s market? AND, did you know that produce when in season can cost nearly 66% less than when found in its off-season? Phew, I better stop now with the and’s. I’m starting to sound like one of my teenage students midst all my learnin’ excitement. LOL.
Being one who gets much more excited about food when I SEE it, I decided to try my hand at creating my first-ever infograph. Now when I go shopping, I just need to look at a what month it is and I’ll have all sorts of visual cues to choose from. Let’s see…this month I think going to try garlic-roasted cauliflower, sweet potato pudding, pumpkin soup, and fried summer squash. What about you? What’s on your table for supper?
