I’m so excited that Easter is finally here. Check out what Peanut gets to do this year…
That’s right! Resurrection Eggs! Did I mention I was excited?! I love stuff that combines fun with learning about Christ especially around the holidays.
Originally I thought we would create our own resurrection eggs this year but when I found this prepackaged set for half of half at the end of last season I snatched them. Basically the resurrection eggs are eggs filled with little trinkets used to tell the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. In our eggs there’s a donkey (Matthew 21:6-8), silver coins (Matthew 26:14-16), a tiny cup (Matthew 26:27-28), some praying hands (Matthew 14:32-34), a leather whip (John 19:1), a crown of thorns (Matthew 27:27-29), nails (John 19:16-18), a die (John 19:23-24), a spear (John 19:32-34), a linen cloth (Matthew 27:57-60), a stone (Matthew 28:2-4), and an empty egg (Matthew 28:5-6). Similar to the Christmas boxes which told the REAL story of Christmas, these eggs help children learn about the REAL story of Easter.
If you don’t currently have a set and don’t want to go buy one prepackages there are several tutorials out there for creating your own set. To help you on your search I’ve included links some of my favorites.

I can hardly wait until Easter morning when Peanut gets to go hunt for eggs and we get to sit down and tell her the true Easter story. How about you? How will you celebrate Easter this year?
