Okay, here’s the question for the day: Do you make a grocery shopping list before going to the store and if so, do you take it WITH you? I have friends who go to the grocery store without shopping lists and always remember EVERYTHING. I don’t know how they do it! Others I know write down everything meticulously in their iPhone but then never give it a second glance once in the store. Me, I’ve tried the iPhone thing. I’ve tried the one looooong list thing. I’ve tried making the list up right before going to the store and so on the list goes.I finally figured out that if I made a simple blank grocery shopping list on Excel with columns listed in order of the aisles at my most frequented store that it not only saved me a lot of time, but it also helped me not to forget so many things each time I went to the store. Now I print this list and tack it on the inside of my baking cabinet (on one of my cork boards) IMMEDIATELY AFTER each grocery shopping trip. This way I can add items I run out of right up until my next shopping trip (so I don’t forget).
On the day before I go shopping, when I plan my menu, I untack the shopping list, add my menu items and I’m done. I can then take the list to the grocery store as-is and go aisle-by-aisle getting what I need. No sorting. No typing. No double-checking my list to make sure I didn’t skip anything. It’s great.
Well this week, midst all my other Publisher creativity, I decided it was time I give my Excel spreadsheet an upgrade with some cute digi-scrap. As a result, I thought I’d pass along a copy for you. While your aisles may not be in the exact same order as the store I shop at, they’ll still be organized by most typical aisles so hopefully it will still be helpful. Enjoy!
