As always, I choose to only review products that I feel are beneficial to my readers and my family. I am thankful to the Home Depot for this opportunity to green up our lawn. I can already envision the many enjoyable days we will be spending barefoot in our backyard enjoying the new bed of green carpet.
Last week we finally made it to the Home Depot to gather the supplies we needed to green up the brown patches of our backyard. Everything was so easy to find that we only needed to ask a sales associate one short questions about the differences between two different kinds of fertilizer and wouldn’t you know–one was right at the end of the aisle able to answer our question with seconds. I so appreciate efficiency like that, especially when we have two squirmy little ones trying their best to sit still in a quickly filling shopping cart.
So what all did we end up getting to green up our lawn this year? Well, in the past we have used 100% grass seed (as opposed to a grass blend) and a generic lawn fertilizer. While the grass still grew, it did not grow as efficiently as it could or withstand the extreme Oklahoma conditions very well causing us to loose a good fourth of our grass. Thus, this year we have decided to try a grass blend instead and team it up with a starter lawn fertilizer at the recommendation of the Home Depot Garden Club. We’ll see how it goes.
All that to say, here is what we took home:
- Scotts Turf Builder Starter Fertilizer
- Scotts Turf Builder Plus 2, Weed Control
- Vigoro Tree, Shrub, and Evergreen Fertilizer
- Pennington Smart Seed for Sun and Shade Grass Seed Mix
- Melnor Premium Metal Oscillating Sprinkler
- Melnor Shower Head Watering Wand
Now it comes to putting all these products to work! Come back tomorrow to see my hubby hard at work (yes, you guys are going to see Goose in a video!) and see some of these products in action.
