Ever wonder what Christmas celebrations are like in another country? We did. That is why this December we are going to be studying Christmas celebrations in different cultures for our Christmas countdown while keeping up with those 3R’s (reading, writing, and arithmetic). We are calling it the 12 Days of Christmas Around the World. Want to join us? Today is day 1, and it’s all about Christmas in Australia!
12 Days of Christmas Around the World
Day 1: What is Christmas like in Australia?
Verse of the Week
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

Christmas in Australia
Christmas comes at the beginning of summer in Australia so they tend to celebrate it more like a Hawaiian luau than a cold winter event. Camping, swimming at the beach, and BBQ lunches are quite common. And, of course, instead of reindeer, there are plenty of kangaroos or boomers, to help Santa out on his adventures to each household.
