With warmer weather and early signs of Spring, Goose and I are in full swing with our outside projects. As I mentioned in my March goals, one of the first projects we hope to complete this year is the replacement of our dilapidated fence. Once that is completed, we also want to add some Spring landscaping to our backyard, add a tree house for the girls, and keep our vegetable garden going. We’ve even talked about adding a paver path around the side of our house or a few wooden barrel planters on our back porch. As you can tell, our inner farmer is coming out in flying colors as we both love being outside and are probably a little over the top with our ambitions. Who knows if we will finish them all this Spring but we are off to a good start.
My hubby, who is a researcher to the core, recently went on a rampage to find the best deal for our fence and would you believe of all the stores he reviewed, including brand name stores and local lumber yards, Home Depot came out on the top every time for price, quality and friendliness? Sponsored post or not, it’s totally true. In fact, he did all his research long before Home Depot ever even contacted me to write this post which made me so excited to share it with you.
From all of Goose’s research we also learned about the Home Depot Garden Club where you can sign up for free to get $5 off your next $50 lawn and garden purchase, get access to project ideas, video tutorials, insider savings information, and more. In fact, they tout that you can save over $300 in email exclusive savings a year when you join this world’s largest online gardening community. Needless to say, we signed up because in our world a dollar saved is a dollar earned and the extra tips and resources to gardening experts along the way only adds to the monetary benefit.
I should also add that the Home Depot Garden Club also provides a monthly national to-do list based on your region’s gardening zone to help you stay ahead of seasonal changes specific to your part of the country. Totally cool! For instance, for our region April is a great time to plant roses, summer flowering bulbs, and plant many different kinds of vegetables and that’s just for starters. The Club also provides informative tips to help millions of members enjoy their yards and gardens more like “Plant tall crops such as okra, pole beans, tomatoes (if staked) and corn on the north side of other vegetables to avoid shading” or “Plant four or more rows of corn for better pollination. Planting in blocks instead of rows helps if you are short of space.” Who knew, right?
All that to say, we will definitely be getting our use out of the Home Depot Garden Club this Spring and Summer. What about you? Do you have any Spring projects you can’t wait to get started?
