I don’t about you, but I use Amazon to order things…a lot. It’s so convenient because you just have to sit down to your computer and you know that most of the time you are getting the best deal. But even with Amazon I like finding ways to make a sweet deal even sweeter. Thus, over time I’ve learned a few things about Amazon that many people don’t realize is available. So today I want to share with you…
6 Things You May Not Know About Amazon
That Could Change Your Shopping Experience Forever
- You can buy toilet paper cheaper on Amazon than at Aldi! When the kids were little I didn’t want to have travel out of the house anymore than absolutely necessary because going to the store with littles is just…well…challenging. Thus, I was real excited when I realized Amazon sold many of those necessary drug and grocery store items like toilet paper and deodorant, often at much cheaper rates than I could find at my local stores. We have even used their Subscribe and Save system to save an extra 15% off of the already low prices making the items a steal both for their cost and front door convenience. What items do we regularly subscribe too? Toilet paper, razors, shaving cream, protein powder, and dish detergent just to name a few.
- Amazon has a 1-800 customer service number. That’s right. You can actually call and talk to an Amazon customer service representative live. Over Christmas we were buying and returning several items as we were figuring out which size of a certain pair of shoes were needed. While most of their returns are easy with 100% your money back and front door pickup, this return had a few complex challenges. All we had to do was to ask customer service to call us to talk to a REAL person about our situation which was quickly resolved thanks to their personal input.
- If you are an Amazon Prime member, you not only get access to thousands of streamed movies and kindle books, unlimited photo storage, and free 2-day shipping, but you can actually earn money back by forfeiting your 2-day shipping option on your orders. Every order in which you turn off the free 2-day shipping (upon checkout) you earn $1 credit which can be used toward an MP3 download or a paid movie rental.
- You can research an Amazon product’s price history with CamelCamelCamel. When I was researching and comparing prices on my Fitbit last December, I started my looking it up on CamelCamelCamel. While the current price was $97, I learned that Amazon had lowered the price to $76 back in August. Therefore, I knew, when looking at Christmas sale prices, that anything above that price really wasn’t the best sale. In the end I saved over $20 on my FitBit thanks to CamelCamelCamel and Amazon, and I walked away knowing I had gotten the best deal possible.
- You can use coupons on Amazon to save even more and you don’t have to cut out a single one! Just click and save right from their website to take advantage of common national coupons that you can apply on Amazon. Just this week I saw coupon for my favorite dish detergent which will be applied to my next Subscribe and Save order, and there were also several toilet tissue coupons I may take advantage of as well.
- Amazon will donate money to your favorite charity every time you order through them if you go through their sister site, Amazon Smile. Amazon Smile offers the same prices, uses the same website setup, uses your same Amazon account, and in nearly every way looks exactly like the regular Amazon site. The only difference is that Amazon Smile donates 1% of the proceeds from your purchases to the charity of your choice. I now have Amazon Smile bookmarked in my toolbar so that every time I order I am also supporting Central Oklahoma Homeschool Choirs, Inc. in which I am the Executive Director. Every little bit counts.
