A little over a month ago a friend of mine encouraged me to read the e-book “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” by Darren Rowse. While I have read several other ProBlogger books, this one takes on a slightly different approach that is more obtainable for all types and stages as a blogger. It has steps for beginners as well as further reading for the expert. After finishing this book the first thing I said to myself was “I need to go back and read this again to take it to the next level.”
Each day of the 31 days has both a task for the reader to complete on their blog, an explanation of why or how to complete the task, and then some links for further reading, if you feel so inclined. In addition, the 2012 edition now has an extra 7 days included so it should actually be titled “38 Days to Build a Better Blog.”
At $29.99 I was a bit uneasy about spending the money without knowing exactly what kind of product I would be receiving or if it would be worth it. Now, after having read it, I can say with full assurance that it was totally worth it and I will be reading it again very soon. That said, if you want just a taste of what it’s like you could always check out Darren Rowse’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Project links he provides on his website. This project is by no means as thorough or motivating as the book, but it could give you a start on improving your blog just the same. Some of the topics provided are similar to those in the book while some are completely different giving you yet some other activities you can incorporate to “build a better blog.”
As one of the top blog gurus, Darren Rowse’s book is definitely the best of its kind and one I would almost venture to say is a must read for all bloggers. If you are looking to improve your blog’s appearance, expand it’s audience, or deepen your reader’s engagement, this book is definitely for you. It should be noted that I am not an affiliate with ProBlogger and receive no compensation for my review above. All opinions are purely my own. So read it and tell me what you think. Did it help you become a better blogger? If so, how? Are you on the day you need a new reader to give you a review? Email me your blog link and maybe we can make a review exchange. I look forward to hearing how you are growing your blog.
