School. It’s finally here. We started our homeschool curriculum this week with bang and are excited about what is in store. This year we decided to become a little more techie in our homeschool with the addition of two Chromebooks. Already we see an amazing difference. Last year, we shared one computer between the four of us; it was rarely NOT in use. Now we each have a computer so we can all quickly get on and off at the same time, allowing more time to live life.
The addition of Chromebooks has also made it possible for us to do techie projects using Google Slides, StoryJumper, Prezi, and more as well as the use of more digital homeschool curriculum. We now have the time and the availability to get creative both online and in our home with our learning!

Bible
Who is God? (And Can I Really Know Him?) by John Hay and David Webb
This is the first book in the top-rated What We Believe series by Apologia devoted to developing a Biblical worldview of God and truth. We are reading the text as a family. The girls then complete their notebooking journal or junior notebooking journal on their own a couple times a week.
Ancient History
We will be supplementing our ancient history studies with audio collections from Jim Weiss and Diana Waring, living books and study guides from Illuminations, and select YouTube videos. We learned last year we really like learning from a variety of angles.
Copywork
We will be copying passages from our history and Bible lessons using Illuminations’ copywork as a guide.
Literature
Our literature selections will be a combination of history, science, and fiction living books as guided by the Illuminations‘ curriculum and the reading lists I’ve prepared for the girls.
Science
Christian Kids Explore Biology
We are SO excited about this science choice. One day we will be reading about our topic and the next we will be experimenting! What could be more fun than that?! Oh, and on Fridays we will be supplementing with THESE amazing nature walks by Cindy West!
Vocabulary
English from the Roots Up, Vol. 1
Art
Artistic Pursuits Early Elementary K-3, Book One
We specifically chose this Artistic Pursuits curriculum because it includes the study of several pieces of ancient art. We will be completing this curriculum alongside several ancient art YouTube tutorials.
Music
Piano via Faber’s Piano Adventures Series
And All that Extra Stuff
Besides our regular homeschool curriculum, we will be participating in several community homeschool activities including choir, ballet, PE, and even a small co-op this year. And of course we will be chasing around our little Kiwi. Between all of that, we will definitely be busy I’m sure.
