Where have you been? That is probably the number one question asked of me over the last several months. Where are you? What is going on? Why haven’t you written any new posts?
The answer?
Long story short…
WE HAD A BABY!
Now with most pregnancies bloggers don’t necessarily leave the blog world for a bit. In fact, most continue blogging right through their pregnancy. However, for me, that plan didn’t quite work out.
It all began in December when we found out we were having another little munchkin. Talk about a fun surprise!
Morning Sickness
Almost immediately I had a very bad case of morning sickness. Let me just say now that staring at the toilet 4-5 times a day is never fun, but when it lasts for over 2 months, you are exhausted. I went into pure survival mode even asking for help with meals for my family because just the smell of something cooking sent me reeling to the restroom.
Master Remodel
Once the morning sickness subsided, I tried my best to get back into a normal routine but by then nothing was normal. My husband was in the middle of a master bedroom and bathroom remodel (which had been started months before we found out about #3). Pretty much every waking moment we were consolidating, moving boxes, and helping with the remodel. During this phase of the remodel we downsized from 3 bedrooms to zero bedrooms as carpet and a few baseboards needed to be replaced too. It was a mess!
The fortunate thing? The bulk of the remodeling was finished during these few weeks before I got yet more sickening news from my doctor. My blood pressure and protein counts were rising. I was on the verge of getting pre-eclampsia…again. And, not only that, I had cholestasis. The doctor’s recommendation? Immediate bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy.
Bed Rest
For the next 50 days I spent a lot of time lying around, reading, playing games with the girls, and organizing homeschool curriculum. Knowing that the doctor wanted me to leave as much stress as possible behind, I chose to avoid any kind of real “work” blogging or otherwise and just tried to focus on daily needs and loving my family.
Introducing Kiwi
Finally, Kiwi arrived healthy and happy on July 10th, and we are so happy she is here!
Now What?
In fact, now that we are home and have had a few weeks to recover, we are ready to get back into the swing of things. And I definitely have a LOT to share as I did a LOT of writing and organizing while on bed rest (which translates into some amazing posts I can’t wait to share). And it all starts now!
All that to say, if you are not already, be sure to subscribe to Cornerstone Confessions so you don’t miss a post. And, for those of you who have stuck it out these last few months waiting for me to return…thank you! You are a joy and I look forward to catching up with you soon!
