Before I even think of beginning a post titled “our typical daily schedule” let me preface it by saying, is there really a “typical” day? LOL. Between the dog getting stepped on, the toddler climbing to top of the bookshelf, the 4-year old grabbing a toy from the toddler, and the diaper changes…well, you get the idea. No day around here is really “typical” but it’s always good to have a goal so we do try to stick to the following routine as best we can.
Mommy Time (5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
- Quiet Time
- Exercise
- Shower
Morning Routine (7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.)
- Children wake up
- Breakfast
- Read a Bible story to the girls
- Personal hygiene
- Walk the dog
- Start the laundry
- Start the dishes

School Routine (9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)
- Flag Salutes
- Morning Board and Calendar
- Workboxes

Mid-Morning Routine (10:30 a.m .to 12:00 p.m.)
- Chores
- Play Outside

Afternoon Routine (12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
- Lunch
- Family read aloud
- Naptime/quiet time for the girls
- Computer time for me

Late-Afternoon Routine (3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
- Chores
- Run errands
- Play outside
- Supper prep

Evening Routine (6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
- Supper
- Start the dishes
- Family time
- Baths
- Personal hygiene
- Bedtime stories
- Lights out for the girls
- Hang-out time with the hubs, catch up on computer work, or free reading time for me
- Lights out for us too

What about you? Do you have a “typical” daily schedule?
If so, what part of your daily schedule is your favorite? Share in the comments.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
Thank you so much for sharing this routine, dear Kathy! This is one area in which I really struggle in our homeschooling. I’m often torn between trying out rigid schedules, to just going with the flow and hoping we’ll all have a productive day.
Neither of these actually works for our family. So the fact that you’ve laid out 2-3 hour slots with a general idea of what to accomplish! This a God send for me!! Thank you soooo much.
I’ve just posted a FREE printable of a little tool we use in our children’s morning routines. Thought you may benefit from this: http://www.womenabiding.com/free-printable
Thanks so much for hosting Titus 2 Tuesdays this week. I always getting the email reminder too. Thanks for sharing your daily schedule. I enjoyed reading about your day and seeing the pictures.
Thanks Judith. It was fun to share too.
I totally hear you when it comes to schedules. I’ve tried it all too and still flux some, but this at least gives me more of a guide which I do appreciate. Thanks for sharing the morning routine printable too! Great idea and so simple. Thanks.
I am working on a new routine, looking for balance. After a crazy summer, I think my family is ready for routine!
Aww your kiddos are so adorable.
I’m am totally there with you. There is something about summer that gets you all out of whack. I told someone recently how I appreciated getting back into a regular routine so I could have a vacation. Ha! It’s all in the way you look at it. 😉
5:00 AM!!!! How many hours you sleep?? I can’t get up as early as you… hahaha
Thanks for share your daily schedule, I will try to do something similar but… 5:00 AM?? I can’t, I’m sure.
LOL. I have to admit I am not the best at it either but it’s my goal. My husband gets up at 4:30 and the girls by 6:30 or 7 (yes, they have crazy internal clocks like that) so I must adjust in order to get in some me time. My personal choice–I’d gladly stay up until 11 and sleep until at least 7. But I guess 9 to 5 for sleep works too. All that to say, yes, do what works for you! No one is the same by any means.
“Pink, always pink.” Oh, this is so sweet. Enjoy these sweet, sweet moments while your children are little! They grow so fast!
Thanks Mary. It really is kind of fun. Have to say I secretly loved putting this post together because it shows my girls in their true light and makes me smile every time. Thanks for sharing!
I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND YOUR SITE . IT HAS HELPED ME IN MORE THAN ONE WAY AND HAS CALMED MY MIND DRASTICALLY. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR WORK AND FOR THE MORNING BOARD AND FOR LEADING ME TO TIME4LEARNING.
You are welcome! You just pointed out TWO of my favorite things–our morning board and Time4Learning. They have both helped our family so much. Yeah! Glad they helped you too!
