Encompass Week 7 Review

Week 7

This week was so much fun.  It included a lot of role playing and painting, two things my daughter loves to do.  By the way, for those of you who like the free lesson plan and printable downloads, I changed all our lesson plans from Scribd to Google docs this week.  I hope that helps makes things a little easier for you to get too.  To go back and get the previous lesson plans, feel free to check out the preschool page for links to all the past posts. Also, for those of you who do not home school but still like to gather new activities and/or homemade art supply recipes, I hope you’ll look at the lesson plans too.  I provide links and descriptions for every activity or art project we complete.  While we do complete approximately 10 activities each day of our preschool week, most are just invitation to play activities designed to be fun with a purpose.  And that’s just what preschool should be–fun with a purpose!

Here’s a few pics from our week:

Brushing a penny “really good like a dentist”
Pretending to be a hair stylist on mom’s hair.  Teacup was her assistant.  ;)
Painting with puff paint.  ”Look Mom.  It’s getting all puffy in the microwave!”
Painting the shower with shaving cream paint.  She loved this…and the fact that it looked like she was painting mommy’s face while she did it thanks to the shower door.
Sissy even had to get in on the action.  If you do this definitely strip down or wear swimsuits.  It makes for an easy clean up.

This week I also have two videos for you!

First, is our inside obstacle course we created to reinforce several gross motor skills we’ve been working on including hopping, jumping, sliding, galloping, and tiptoeing.  Although we’ve made inside obstacle courses before, this one was so fun she wanted me to record her doing it again and again.

Next, I thought I’d give you a Bible verse update.  She really enjoys memorizing things.  We go to the grocery store and she’s either singing or spouting a Bible verse or poem the whole time we are going up and down the aisles.  Talk about a great ministry.  Maybe she’s going to be a curbside preacher one day…but then I guess she already is.  Ha!  ;)

Each week I will try to share our lesson plans and printables for you to download for FREE.  Each set of lesson plans is hyperlinked to online printables and other resources for your convenience.  For our home school experience we have chosen to use several excellent resources found across the web, books from the library, or our own creations to provide a comprehensive preschool experience at minimal cost.  While we do learn Bible verses, the ABCs, and 123s, I like to think of the Encompass curriculum as an organized play time that I get to have with my child each week.  We have fun coloring, painting, dancing, and more all while learning some of the basics of life.  I hope you’ll check it out and be sure to let me know what you think.  Happy learning!

  1. Shaving cream in the shower is a fabulous idea! We used to play with shaving cream when I taught school, but I haven’t been able to think of a good place to do it at home!

  2. I love the shaving cream paint! And the obstacle course looks like a lot of fun too.

  3. WAIT – shaving cream paint? shut up! I have to find this – my boys would LOVE it!!!!!

  4. Lol. Don’t go looking to far for it. Shaving cream + food coloring = shaving cream paint. ;)

  5. My kids enjoy puzzles, and I have been using your letter puzzles as part of our preschooling. We are using God’s Little Explorers from motherhoodonadime, but I have been puling resources from elsewhere too. I have linked to this page on my blog post about the letter G.
