Encompass Preschool Week 6 Review

Week 6

Week 6 marks the end of our first section.  Our goal is to take a week off after every 6 weeks to give us a Sabbath week of sorts.  I had read about the idea on another blog or two.  Knowing how easily burn-out can be as a former school teacher, I thought I’d give this schedule a try.  So far, I think its going to work great for us.  It gives me a little catch up time…which we as moms know we all need.  All that to say, this week was definitely fun.  Peanut enjoyed exploring Community Helpers a whole lot.  For some reason her favorite remains the fireman.  Who knows…maybe we have a female firefighter on our hands!

Each week I will try to share our lesson plans and printables for you to download for FREE.  Each set of lesson plans is hyperlinked to online printables and other resources for your convenience.  For our home school experience we have chosen to use several excellent resources found across the web, books from the library, or our own creations to provide a comprehensive preschool experience at minimal cost.  While we do learn Bible verses, the ABCs, and 123s, I like to think of the Encompass curriculum as an organized play time that I get to have with my child each week.  We have fun coloring, painting, dancing, and more all while learning some of the basics of life.  I hope you’ll check it out and be sure to let me know what you think.  Happy learning!

  1. I just love these ideas, I’m starting a preschooler this year, and I’m so excited. I’m glad the internet is filled with inspiration.

  2. Thanks for sharing your day. We’re unschoolers in Australia and love hearing about other homeschoolers’ lives and meeting them as we travel! I have two pre-schoolers, but they don’t follow an intensive schedule. I figured that they’ve already mastered language and social studies by imitation, so they’ll be alright with other subjects too.

    • Everyone’s personality is different. I actually wish I could be more of an unschooler but my brain just doesn’t fly that way. As far as an intense schedule though, we are pretty lax. I place different activities in each workbox and we just work on them throughout the morning as we get to them. Sometimes we spend a long time on one box having a blast. Other times we just zoom through them because it’s the nature of the activities. The workboxes just help this momma with some creative ideas for well-rounded play because without some research and a plan, I’d be totally lost, boring, and unfocused. All that to say, I hope you have a great year! Yes, I’m sure your kids will be just fine too!

  3. Love this! We are homeschooling for the first time so I appreciate reading this and what you are doing.

If you have time, I’d love for you to stop in and link up in The Mommy Club – mommy resources & solutions. This would be a perfect fit. Feel free to link up others, too!

Have a super week! Off to look around your blog :)

  6. The feet painting is such a great idea. I know my 3 year old would love it. Great seeing how you connect the bible lesson with your theme.
