“Noreply-comment@blogger.com”
Ugh. It makes me so sad when I see the above e-mail address in my inbox. I love responding to my readers’ comments via e-mail as I feel it brings on a more personal engagement than a blog comment alone. In fact, its not uncommon for me to have several e-mails sent back and forth between readers as a result of one simple comment. It’s just fun getting to know fellow bloggers and readers in this way; its one big reason I enjoy blogging so much. So, when a reader makes it so I can’t respond, I am left with trying my best to thank them via a blog comment hoping that they will come back to see my response…which probably rarely happens.
Do you ever wonder to yourself, “Why doesn’t this blogger write me back?” Many readers who comment on blogs have asked that same question of themselves without even realizing that THEY are the reason no one contacts them back. Thus today I want to share with you a post I found on Happy Hour Projects that gives a great tutorial on how to change your blogger settings so bloggers can e-mail you back.

Be sure to check this one out! And, after you’ve followed this tutorial, I’d love it if you’d leave a comment so I can e-mail you back! Hope to hear from you soon.

So….this doesn’t apply if we are not in Blogger in the first place? Sorry, I am confused.
Yes. Blogspot users only. Sorry for any confusion.
I totally agree Kathy! I have recently started receiving comments on my blog but so many are no reply bloggers. It is upsetting!
Kathy, I had NO idea my email defaulted to not show. Thank you so much. I have been following you for a while, even commented a couple of times (so the noreply… definitely applied to me! ugh!), I have found your Blogging Tutorials very helpful! I keep going back to your posts to check and update my blog since I’m new at this. Thanks for all the info!! Paula [not a noreply blogger any more

Thank you. Thankfully I did have the box checked to share my email address, but now I know how to check it and pass along this information to others as well. I enjoy interacting with my readers as well.
My hubs and I both subscribe to my free WordPress.com blog so I could know if I have word verification and no reply. Neither appears on our received blogs. But someone told me they’re there, and Blogger is a whole different world when it comes to these things. I haven’t found a way yet to fix them. So if anyone reading this happens to know, please share. I put my email address on my blog, right at the top.

Thank you for posting this. I shouted you out on my Weekend Roundup today: http://www.littlerandr.org/2012/07/weekend-roundup_28.html
I always wondered how people respond to me via email. Do you have to manually go type in each person’s email when you want to respond or is there a way to click on their name and respond (and also show their comment in the email)? Does that make sense?
If I want to respond via email I just reply because yr comment goes to my inbox. However if I want to add my email reply to the blog comments I have to manually go to the post and click reply to post a comment. I know. I wished it’d do both I one swoop but it doesn’t. This is why you may not always see a response to my readers in the comments although I do try to respond to each one. Good question.
Kathy
Nothing makes me more crazy.. I want to reply almost exclusively by email, but so many people have “no-reply comment” that I spend a ton of time tracking them down. It is confusing though, since so much depends on both the platform of the commenter as well as the blog’s platform. *Sigh* I wish it were easier!
I did not know this so I am glad I found your post on Manic Monday link up. I am your newest follower on twitter.

I hate it too. Often times I type a long response and just when I go to hit send I see the no reply address.
I think the protocol is that a blogger reads your comment and then when they get the chance they go to your website and leave a comment there as well..you visit back and forth, in other words…on your blogs but not so much on email
I am pretty new to blogging but this is my understanding from the various ‘tips’ I’ve read
Actually Debra, it really depends on the blogger. Many find that once you get into blogging that true blogging friendships develop much better via e-mail. In several forums I am apart of the general consensus is to e-mail reply personally when possible and leave a comment on your blog when e-mailing is not possible or when someone asks a question so that all may view your answer. Hope that helps.
Kathy
Also another tip..I just had to do a “Word Verification” in order to enter my comment on your site and that is something that alot of bloggers seem to have an issue with… ( I will have to do the same thing to enter this comment…but just google it and some blog or another will instruct how to turn it off
Hope this helps in a small way
As I said in the first comment I am new to blogging ( less than 3 months ) but this is what I’ve picked up thus far
Thanks for the tip. I didn’t realize my word verification had been turned on. Phew! Sorry for the frustration and thanks for letting me know. For those of you who also need to turn off your word verification, check out this tip on typoblogger.
Thanks.
Kathy
