Preschool Week 1 in Review including FREE Lesson Plans and Printables

Welcome to our FIRST preschool in review day.   Last week we began officially homeschooling with Peanut.  Her first week of preschool was a blast.  We had so much fun.  What does preschool look like in our house?  Basically for us preschool is just organized play.  We incorporate the use of workboxes to help us create a routine but each box is filled with very eclectic activities.  We love to read, paint, color, sing, and more.  Just to give you a taste here’s our week in review.

Poem Outtake

Want to know more of what we do or download some free worksheets created for this week?  I’m currently developing a comprehensive home school preschool curriculum called Encompass.   The curriculum is set up to include morning board activities, group activities, and workbox activities.  Both the morning board and group activity time can be completed with siblings or alone.  The workbox activities, unless specified, are intended to be completed in a one-on-one setting.  Together these three activity types will guide the intended preschooler through basic developmental and educational skills expected of a 3 or 4 year old including by not limited to fine and gross motor skills, music, art, math, Bible, recitation, literacy, and cooking skills.

My hope is that by the end of this curriculum Peanut will be able to recognize all basic upper and lower case letters, numbers 1-25, basic shapes, basic colors, time to the half-hour, U.S. coins up to 31 cents, be able to write his/her full name, and demonstrate basic reasoning skills.  In addition she will have the opportunity to memorize several well-known poems and nursery rhymes as well as Bible verses and character studies that will hopefully have a positive life-long impact on her behavioral development.

Here’s a link to our lesson plans and worksheets for week 1.  If you like what you see, be sure you subscribe below to keep in the loop, as there will definitely be more to come.  Also, if there is something you’d like to see different to make it more user friendly just let me know.  It’s definitely a work in progress but hopefully this will help save others many hours planning and searching for ideas to make it all come together.  Enjoy!

    • I imagine he is soaking up more than you think. It’s amazing what Peanut remembers from Bible stories we read months ago. Way to go with all the ABCs, shapes, colors, animals, and counting practice. He will definitely be ahead of the game when you decide to begin…which will be here before you know it!

      Kathy
