Create a Post Divider

Sometimes when reading blog posts, each post seem to mesh together. In instances like this, a post divider can come in real handy and help your blog look more professional too. Creating one is really simple and could be anything from a line of circles to a row of ornate pictures. It’s all up to you.

1. Begin by creating a picture that will serve as your divider. You can use anything from Photoshop to Microsoft Publisher or even Microsoft PowerPoint.

2. Save your picture to your computer.

3. Open a Photobucket account (or some other similar free image hosting website) if you don’t already have one. Photobucket is a free image hosting website. Make sure when you open your account that you set it to “public.”

4. Upload your button picture to Photobucket by clicking “upload now.”

5. Now return to blogger. Go to Template on your Design menu and select “Backup/Restore.” Select “Download Full Template.” This will ensure that in case you make a mistake you can always select this download to return to your current template. Once the template is downloaded close the Backup/Restore window.

6. Now select “Edit HTML.” Click “Proceed.”7. Click somewhere within the window and then press ctrl+F to open the find window. Type in “post-footer-line-3“. The full code should look something like: “<div class=’post-footer-line post-footer-line-3′><span class=’post-location’>” or “<div class=’post-footer-line post-footer-line-3′/>”

(code may be slightly different depending on your template).:

9. Now, go back to your Photobucket window. Select the album from “My Albums” in which you saved your icons. Select the first icon you want to input on your social media bar. Click on the direct link code. Clicking the code will automatically copy it to your computer’s clip board.

10. Return to your blog html page. Insert the url link where it says “URL OF YOUR PICTURE”.

11. Select Preview. Check both the height and width of your divider on your blog. The given height on the above code is 20 pixels. On my blog, my divider is currently 40 pixels high. Feel free to adjust it to your preference.

12. Once satisfied, select “save template” and close.
